Over the weekend, M and I intended on cooking and enjoying our weekend in. Instead, we ended up spending most of the weekend running around. Sunday was a fruitful day of shopping and dining out. We actually wanted to have dinner on Saturday night at Asia Manoa, but when we arrived, although more than half the tables were empty, they were intended for reservations made by others ahead of time. As a result, we went to Boston's Pizza across the street (also delicious!) and made out own reservations at for Asia Manoa on Sunday night (especially since it seems so popular, we had to try it). It was quite good! We ordered the hot&sour soup, crispy gau gee and black bean chicken over rice. However, they gave us the wrong soup - scallop soup (top). I thought it was their version of the hot&sour soup (bottom), even though it wasn't very hot OR sour. So, I actually put white pepper into it before the waitress came and told us that was supposed to be someone else's soup. We kept the two little bowls we already scooped and asked them to take away the big bowl and bring us the hot&sour that we had ordered. While M's favorite soup in Chinese restaurants is hot&sour, as it turned out, he actually enjoyed their scallop better(!) despite his usual dislike for scallops. How ironic is that!
While the food was great, the service is slightly less par. We were not done with our meal yet before I felt rushed as a waitress asked if we needed boxes (because the reserved table next to us was not big enough to seat those guests who showed up, so they wanted us to leave so that they can combine the tables!). All in all, it was a good dining experience. M and I are definitely excited to go back and try some of their other house specials.
